also offer training packages for groups of parents, professionals (e.g. teachers, nursery nurses and health visitors) and other carers who are working with children and young people, which can be tailored to your individual needs and delivered in the setting of your choice e.g., school, nursery, health centre, or community centre. We offer training on a range of issues including:

5. Positive Psychology: encouraging healthy and happy children

Our newly designed courses aim to take a proactive approach to working with children. They are ideal for parents (new and old), for teachers and other professionals who work directly with children. The courses use the principles of Positive Psychology to encourage healthy and positive children to develop. Although these courses can be aimed reactively at groups of children who are presenting with difficulties, the premise of the theory is that, by proactively interacting with children using these strategies, difficulties may be avoided.

We recognise that children today can face many stresses and challenges. Parents and professionals can learn to teach their children to have a positive attitude and to confidently overcome fears and challenges that they may face.
We concentrate on building children’s emotional awareness, hope and optimism, and resilience. We encourage children to identify and utilise their own personal strengths and skills.

Course for new parents or parents of pre schoolers:

As no child arrives with a manual of “dos and don’ts”, we believe this course offers every new parent the opportunity to develop essential skills for raising a child, through a fun and interactive group.

Course for schools and teachers:

By practically using this theory, teachers can encourage individuals and classes to achieve their personal goals and develop into confident and happy individuals. It is recognised that to role such a training course out to a whole school team can be logistically and economically challenging. We therefore offer to train one or two members of a staff team to facilitate the training event, providing all the essential materials and necessary information. These trained individuals will receive a certificate authenticating that they have completed the course and the school will receive all the copyrighted material to continue to use the course within their own environment. The benefit of such a programme, is that staff on all levels can benefit from this course, from senior management, qualified teachers, classroom assistant and dinner staff.
Parental Drop in clinic in schools

We have seen very positive results within local schools who have accessed our “Parental Drop in Clinics” . These clinics allow schools to offer parents a “one off” appointment with a qualified Child Clinical Psychologist. In this consultation, practical, professional, and confidential advice will be given, in the hope that families can make changes that avoid long term problems arising.

This service allows schools to proactively identify children who may be experiencing difficulties, enabling them to receive immediate support. The family avoids lengthy referral procedures and waiting lists and can begin to address problems straight away. We find that a single session can empower a family by giving them the knowledge and encouragement they need to tackle their difficulties. If we feel that a family needs further assistance we will discuss this with them, and, if necessary, make the relevant referral for the family to be placed on an NHS waiting list.

These sessions can also be accessed by staff members and are priced at only £180 for a 2 hour clinic.
