How does work?

aims to empower parents by working with them to understand and find solutions to managing their child’s behaviour problems. Your family is considered as a whole and your child’s needs and happiness are always our main consideration.

You will be offered practical, positive, psychological techniques from a qualified Child Clinical Psychologist with many years experience of working with families and children.

As the service that offers is personalised, we will meet you for an initial appointment to discuss your parenting needs. This appointment typically lasts between 1-1½ hours and costs £95. Following this appointment, we will jointly decide on an approach that meets your requirements. All appointments will take place in your family home.

offers a psychological service to families living within a 30 mile radius of Staffordshire. We will see families in many areas of Derbyshire, Staffordshire and the West Midlands. If you are not living within our catchment area but are interested in the services has to offer, please contact us and we will try to direct you towards other services which may be able to help.

As offers integrity, professionalism and confidentiality, you will receive honest and supportive feedback and advice aimed at building your confidence in your parenting abilities.

If it is felt that this service does not meet your needs, you will be referred on to an appropriate service or be given advice about other support agencies.

What to expect when you see :

You can phone us or email us to discuss how we might be able to help you. You do not need to be referred by your GP and can contact us directly. After you have contacted and we have spoken on the phone, you will be sent some questionnaires that you will be asked to complete and return. You will also be offered a convenient date and time for an initial appointment. This appointment will involve only the Clinical Psychologist and the parents or carers of the child.

Your initial appointment will last between 1–1½ hours, and will involve an in-depth assessment. This appointment will cost £95. You will be asked questions about the problems you are experiencing in your family home and about relationships between family members. You will also be asked about the impact that the existing problems are having on each family member.

Depending on your requirements, you will then be offered further appointments to discuss possible solutions to your difficulties. We will agree on how many appointments are likely to be needed at this stage. As works collaboratively with parents at all times, you will be asked to comment on the psychological strategies being offered to you and make suggestions about how these interventions can work within your family. You will be provided with some written information to help remind you of the psychological techniques that you are trying to use.

You will also be given advice and support over the following weeks as you try to work on the situation at home. This could involve further visits to your home, phone calls, and/or email contact, depending on how much support we have agreed that you need.

What else does do?

often works with the parents and carers of children who are experiencing problems. However, we also offer individual, therapeutic, psychological work for children and young people who may be experiencing difficulties such as low mood, anxiety or bereavement. Again, this would be a mutually-agreed intervention following a full assessment with both yourselves and your child.
